A fine quality Sterling silver mounted cut glass claret jug. The fine cast silver depicts classical scenes of cherrub like figures playing musical instruments, the spout has the face of the Greek god of wine Dionysus, the handle is in the form of a branch intertwined with a grape vine and the finial to the lid has a rampant lion leaning on a vacant shield. The attention to detail here is superb making this such a beautiful piece. Full UK hallmarking to the side for the; maker WW, Sterling silver, London, 1981. The crystal glass body has a detailed cut diamond pattern to the main section, after which it the glass balloons out to give the jug a wide and stable base.
